One of the most important things to consider when we install a irrigation system is head to head coverage. Each head we install should overlap each other. Each head must be adjusted to insure that we get matched precipitation. For larger lawn areas we like to use Rainbird 5000 rotors. For smaller lawns we use Rainbird 1804 popups. In planter beds we use Rainbird 1806 popups.
If a double check valve is being installed vs. a atmospheric anti syphon valve, a permit must be issued and the double check valve must pass inspection.
Smart controllers are now available for home owners. These types of controllers sense the weather and moisture and turn themselves off and on depending on how wet the environment is.
Drip irrigation is another green industry item that helps the project use less water. Instead of overhead spraying a drip irrigation system can only emit a controlled amount of water to each plant. An example would be, 1 gallon per hour for 1 gallon sized plants, 2-5 gallon per hour for larger shrubs and multiple drip emitters for trees. With a combination of a smart controller and drip emitters quite of bit of water can be saved by using them.

This week will probably be the last week we work in in Lake Oswego for the current job. It has been a great job for us. We’ve done about every facit of landscape work. Irrigation trouble shooting, new irrigation, drip irrigation, planting, repairing a split faced Camas stone wall, sod lawns, dry creek work, low voltage lighting, general clean up of beds, soil preparation, bark dust application, french drains and there is probably something I forgot about.

This week however we are working on two projects on the sight, that my guys just love. One is a killer rock wall. The boulders are full of moss and lichens. They are placed in a front entry to the home and it sure is looking fantastic. The inside courtyard has a concrete planter box. we are facing that with flagstone. It looks stunning.

This last week we continued work on our Lake Oswego job. We finished up the planting, cleaning up of garden beds, installing drip irrigation, revamping some pavers that have been installed over 10 years, and installed a stacked rock retaining wall  We are getting ready to install a boulder wall that should prove to be quite interesting. It is for a main entrance to the home and the boulders are full of moss and lichens. It will be a combination of retaining wall and rockery. We are excited on how this will look.

We started and finished a small planting job on the marina in Janzen Beach. This was a direct referral from another client we worked for about 2 months ago. With a combination of wind swept moss boulders and the planting we are most happy with the out come. To top it all off we used dark hemlock as the topdress.

We also installed a shady seed lawn in Camas. We used three way soil mix as the soil preparation and had it hydro seeded. Shady lawns can be tricky and clients must realize that every spring it will take some work to whip back in shape. Especially after the hard freezing winter we had this year.
