Gravel pathway gone –New paver pathway in

This last week we did a variety of different jobs. One was to fill in a large pond 20 by 10 by 4′ deep in Vancouver. We salvaged the pumps, skimmer and misc. pond stuff for the home owner. He’s going to sell it on e bay. It entailed making the area a french drain rebuiding a boulder wall and adding a lot of drain rock and soil mix.
We also repaired a rock wall with a mortar less look in Vancouver. It was 100′ long and needed to have some bulges fixed and a 4″ cap added.
We removed some dead Escallonia and other dead plants from the winter freeze in Portland, and replaced them with hostas, perennials and very large Viburnum Davidii.
The main job this week was a gravel pathway that the client wanted removed and a paver pathway installed. It was in the Salmon Creek area. We also changed over approx. 15 incandescent up lights to led. Led lights are sweet, but a little on the expensive side.
Below is the finished product with Old Dominion sq’s and rec’s Summit color from Mutual Materials. Sure beats gravel.

Videos of WALP award winning landscapes from Woody

2008 was a great year regarding awards for Woody’s Custom Landscaping, Inc. We won two awards from the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals in residential construction. Both were distinction awards. We are pleased to have won over 16 of these awards from WALP. Seven of which are grand awards.
Below is a distinction award from a Vancouver home. We built a very large CMU block wall, a huge paver patio and cultured stone wall. It also includes: a water feature, pergola, irrigation, planting and low voltage lights.

Dry Creeks are a great way to divert drainage water and look fantastic. Below see various examples of dry creeks with boulder placements and a lichen encrusted retaining wall.

Serving Customers for over 100 years
Share

Mutual Materials celebrates its 109th year in business in 2009. That means we have navigated a depression and some dozen recessions prior to the current one we are experiencing. That got me thinking about what it is that has led to our success though all these down economic cycles.

Sure we have a great breadth of quality products that are functional, stylish, and timeless.
You need those to be successful but products alone won’t keep you in business. It always has and still does boil down to taking care of our customers. Our number one priority for all these years has been and always will be…customer satisfaction.

So what’s new in how we service you, the customer? Well, in the past year we have added branches in Kalispell, Montana; Hayden, Idaho; and Bend, Oregon, bringing our total to 19 in the Northwest.

Recently we replaced our two smaller Vancouver branches with our flagship branch with over four acres of products and outdoor displays, and the largest natural stone inventory in the greater Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area.

We’ve also expanded our hours so you can now visit us on Saturdays in most markets. For those branches that aren’t open on Saturdays, we have longer Friday hours during the summer months. Our Vancouver, Bellevue, and Spokane branches have even added a Landscape Designer program on Saturdays, which provides an on site landscape designer to assist you with your projects. You can stop by these locations on Saturday and receive a free 30-minute consultation on your backyard project.

What hasn’t changed for all these years is that you will still find our branches staffed with friendly, knowledgeable, professional people willing to help you make your project a success. Come check us out.

Sincerely,

Craig Olsen
Branch Operations Manager

videos of front and back yard renovations

So far this year we have done many what I call, front and back yard renovations. Reshape existing lawns, so that they have planter beds for trees for screening neighbors, shrubs for color and interest, and ,of course at least in my book, perennials and 1 gallon misc. plants. The renovation process is simple and adds value and interest to most homes. Many home just need reshaping of their sod which in many cases runs the entire yard, If your yard is in need of a renovation, give our award winning certified company a call at 360-687-1882.
A before video of a back yard renovation in Camas

The after of the back yard renovation in Camas

This renovation was in the back yard and we added a paver patio, small brick wall and a new sod lawn.

Front and rear yard renovation in Vancouver This project was a little more extensive. We added dry creeks and a lot of boulders and planting. Our client did not want any more sod to mow.

This job in Portland was a direct referral from the previous video. We love direct referrals.

This project was done one year ago in Vancouver and was wall to wall sod. It shows plant growth and a nice paver path way to their garden shed as well as boulder placement in their back yard.
